Overview

I thought this was going to be a home run for a weed eater, but I did find something missing.

Weed Eater

This Dewalt weed eater is very light, coming in at only 8.5 pounds.

It has a 13″ cutting swath powered via its brushless motor.

The Dewalt DCST920P1 Weed Eater also has a high and low speed so you can select whichever you need. I think most people will opt to leave it on high and thanks to the extended runtime battery that should give you about 30 minutes of cutting time. You could probably get about 45 minutes on the low speed setting.

The nice thing is this 20v 5.0Ah battery (strongest they make in 20v) is interchangeable between any of their other 20v power tools. It also has a “fuel gauge” built in so you can see how much time is left on the battery.

One thing I would have liked to have seen is some sort of speed loader to wind the trimming line. This does have a bump head feature so once you do get the line loaded you should be able to “bump” the weed eater on the ground and get a little more line to come out.

This weed eater uses 0.080″ trimmer line which it would have been nice to see Dewalt use 0.095 line but it is what it is here.

Final Thoughts

If you have other Dewalt 20v power tools and are in the market for a battery powered weed eater then I think this makes a fine choice. Just remember you will have to manually feed the string line. That’s really about the only draw back to this weed eater.
